Power point is an excellent technology that provides a smooth presentation of information. It is a projection of slides on a screen and the creator can add animation, movie clips, pictures, or text. It's an excellent improvement from the chalk board or handouts.
As a teacher I am excited to use power point in my classroom because if I create it correctly it will be a seamless presentation of information with lots of graphics and interesting animations. I am hoping to be able to save the power points and use them the following year just updating some of the slides. It's also exciting because it saves time writing on the board so it keeps the students more engaged in learning.

Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Excel is an excellent tool in constructing databases. It basically takes information and categorizes it in columns and rows so that it can be viewed on a spreadsheet. Then formulas can be applied so that the information in one row can translate the appropriate information to the next row in accordance with the applied formula. There are also various creative functions, for example the columns can be highlighted so that they are easily distinguish from one another.
Microsoft Excel will come in very handy in the classroom. I can use it to keep track of my students’ grades. It will be easy to get the average of the students overall grade when I apply the correct formula to all their assignments, quizzes, and exams. I am also looking forward to even using the spreadsheet in Social Studies specifically because it may be useful to making graphs about population growth, votes in elections, and maybe even economic developments. As I get more familiar with this tool I am more excited about the possibilities that await us.

Email is something that I remember entering our home when I was probably 8 years old. I got my first email account when I was 11. It was a Juno account which I still use today. Email has made corresponding with people so convenient. From writing my best friend when he’s deployed in Iraq to sending my roommate a web link email is immeasurably useful tool. Outlook is an even more complex system which I was introduced to when I came to Grove City. It is great being able to send information electronically. I can send my assignments to my professors and I can send pictures to my Mom.
When I am teaching I am going to use email to contact the parents of my students. It is a great way to send the same message to several people at one time. I will be able to construct a contact list and easily send assignments out to parents and students. I am certain that I will use email to keep in touch with other teachers. I hope to build my knowledge in Social Studies and in teaching methods so getting on mailing lists for various teachers organizations would also be helpful. As I anticipate building solid relationships with my students I see email being helpful in keeping in contact with my graduated students. Email is just an excellent and convenient way to function in this world. I am very thankful for it, and the many unforeseen uses I will have for it in my career as an educator.
